Hydrographic & bathymetric surveys

Hydrographic and bathymetric survey services help project teams understand underwater and near-shore conditions for planning, design and monitoring.

About this service

Depth and seabed information is collected and tied to land control so that marine and shore data sit in a single coordinate and level system, supporting berth and channel design, dredging volumes, coastal works and repeat monitoring. Our own instruments include a dual-frequency 200/30 kHz echosounder, a tide gauge and a sound velocity profiler, with RTK GNSS positioned directly over the transducer; the frequency pair also maps soft-sediment thickness. For full seabed coverage we field NORBIT multibeam echosounder systems — WBMS X and WINGHEAD X with integrated GNSS/INS — working directly with NORBIT Subsea’s regional office, with sub-bottom profiling and side scan available to projects on demand. Recent work includes a dual-frequency survey of the Port of Tartous: 11.4 km² on a 10 m grid, 34,420 soundings, depths to 26 m, and a 256-point land survey of the breakwaters and quays. Water level and sound velocity are controlled with our own RBRduet T.D|wave tide gauge and Valeport SWiFT SVPplus profiler, and single-beam work runs on a Seafloor HydroLite-DFX dual-frequency echosounder.

Where this work supports a project

  • Port and harbour bathymetry
  • NORBIT multibeam surveys (WBMS X, WINGHEAD X)
  • Dredging and volume surveys
  • Soft-sediment and sub-bottom mapping

Typical deliverables

  • Bathymetric plans and contours
  • Seabed surfaces and XYZ grids
  • Soft-sediment thickness maps
  • Dredging volumes and survey report

Planning your survey

Useful things to share with the team when you get in touch:

  • The water body, survey extent and where a boat or crew can safely launch and work.
  • Any existing charts, soundings, tide or level references, and the datum you want results tied to.
  • The outputs you need — plans, profiles, volumes or raw sounding data — to agree formats with the team.
  • Timing and whether repeat surveys are expected to track change.

Coverage

Marine and near-shore survey enquiries are handled from Lebanon, with project enquiries also welcome from Syria and Canada.
